Summer is here, FINALLY! I don’t know about you, but as soon as Memorial Day is here, we hit the pool every weekend that the sun is shining. Nothing feels like summer to me like packing up the kids and the pool toys for a day playing in the sun. As you may guessed from the blog title, I have red hair as does my son. And that means that fun-in-the-sun often results in skin that needs a little extra love.
A friend got married in Florida this April and I took this After-Sun Spray recipe with me to the beach for the first time. I. AM. OBSESSED. I love it so much! It’s so cooling and soothing, plus is smells heavenly. Even my kids love it! It is going to be a staple our house this summer.
Here’s the recipe to make your own…
What You Need
- 2 oz. spray bottle (find them HERE)
- Pure, organic aloe (HERE)
- Witch Hazel (I buy THIS)
- Pepperment Essential Oil
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Distilled Water
(You can learn more about where to get the only brand of essential oils that I use HERE.)
Instructions
Fill spray bottle roughly 1/4 full with witch hazel. (The witch hazel helps the oils disperse through out the water, and provides nourishing benefits to the skin at the same time.) Next, add the following to the bottle:
- 1 Tablespoon Aloe
- 6 drops Lavender
- 4 drops Peppermint
- Fill to top with distilled water (leave room to insert the sprayer!)
Shake well and spray directly on to skin. The Lavender essential oil is soothing and calming, while the Peppermint is cooling to angry skin. Perfect combo for after-sun care, plus it smells like a spa!
You HAVE to try this! And when you do, let me know how much you love it (it’s not just me, right?)!
